Dungeons and Dragons adventure module The Riddle of Dolmen Moor

Player summary: Your objective is locate the tomb of King Llyewyn. You must travel by boat up the Damrosil River and then trek your way along the Kingsway through the Fens of Taravol beyond which is your destination: Dolmen Moor. The Burial Mounds is where you will find 25 Pellham kings buried. Somewhere among them you will discover the tomb of King Llyewyn. You’ve been warned, however, that the dead guard the burial mounds.
Dungeon Master information: It’s vital that rounds of play are tracked for each encounter. The more rounds pass without the player’s finding a solution, the more dangerous the encounters become. Technically, there are only 4 encounter areas. Although many additional encounters are provided, they are subject to player decisions.
I suggest reading the first encounter The Minstrel of the Fens several times to get a firm grasp of the mechanics involved. There are minor details that are quite important to the outcome of the encounter (most notably that the lute maintains an opening to Acheron, which is only mentioned once and at the very end of the encounter description).
For the undead army at the burial mounds, I suggest the DM be well prepared with combat round charts for all involved as it will be a heck of a fight.
Other than those two suggestions, this module is pretty straight forward but will require a team of players who can think just as well as they can take action.
My thoughts: This is part of a series of modules (The Prophecy of Brie). There’s background and lore provided at the beginning of the module, and a recap of what the players have accomplished so far on the campaign. This information is helpful and not too cumbersome to get through as it needs to be shared.
This module provides a nice balance of action and problem solving. The players must resolve the first encounter within a short amount of time, and that will require player collaboration and discussion. After that, the burial mound encounters appear to be quite enjoyable without taxing the party too much. But again, time is the party’s #1 enemy and they will need to find the tomb of King Llyewyn sooner rather than later as the undead army will eventually arrive.
If I were to run any portions of The Prophecy of Brie as a DM, this particular module stands above the rest (at least from the one’s I’ve reviewed). I imagine any DM and his players will find this module to be quite enjoyable.
